When you’re starting out as an energy healer, you think about a lot of things.
You think about your equipment. Your intake forms. Whether your hands will shake the first time someone lies down in front of you. You think about remembering the sequence. About how much to charge. About whether you’re even ready.
What most people don’t think about is protection. Not for the client…for you.
You’re entering people’s lives in a deep way. And whether you’re working from your home, a borrowed room, or even online, there’s one unspoken shift the moment money changes hands: you’re no longer practicing. You’re in practice.
That difference matters. Because in a professional space, even the gentlest work can carry risk.
This article isn’t here to raise your concerns. It’s here to show you what most new practitioners miss, and how you can simply make sure you’re not one of them.
The Moment it Becomes
It’s easy to tell yourself this is temporary.
Just a few clients here and there. A side hustle. Something quiet, not quite official yet. You’re still learning, after all. You haven’t printed business cards or figured out your niche. Maybe you’re not even using the word “business” yet.
As we mentioned in our introduction, the moment someone pays you for your work (however little, however much, doesn’t matter) you’ve crossed a line you can’t really un-cross. You’re now responsible, not just for what you do, but for what someone else might say you did. Or didn’t do.
You don’t have to be a full-time practitioner to need protection. You just have to be open for business.
And you are.
The Risk Nobody Mentions
There’s so much care in how you set things up. You cleanse the air. You adjust the lighting. You make sure the room fragrance is calming.
What you don’t expect is for someone to fall. Or misunderstand what your work is meant to do. Or leave feeling fine, only to return days later with questions that sound more like blame.
These moments aren’t common. But they happen. Not because you’re careless, but because humans are unpredictable, and healing isn’t a straight line. (As healers, we know that better than most!)
This is where liability protection matters; not necessarily because of negligence on your part, but because perceptions don’t always match.
Professional and general liability insurance aren’t there to make your practice feel clinical. They’re there to give your practice the professional support it deserves. Having the right insurance demonstrates your professionalism and dedication to your chosen occupation.
You hopefully, probably won’t need it.
But if you do, it’s already too late to wish you had it.
Protection doesn’t have to mean losing your purpose.

What’s Next: The Thing That Shouldn’t Be an Afterthought
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to be full-time, fully booked, or wildly confident to take this one step.
You just need to secure the foundation of what you’re building.
Liability insurance is often the last thing new practitioners think about, when really, it should be one of the first. Not because something will go wrong, but because you deserve to move forward with support behind you.
And support is exactly what we offer.
